South House Restaurant

Went to south house in Greer S C today and it was awful. Ordered the steak and gravy. Steak was tough macaroni was dry brought bread to table it was so torn Apart it looked like it had all ready been eaten and put back in the basket. We go there often and it was the worst today it ever been drive around 40 miles to get there. Noticed there crowd had dropped off. They were putting everything a out in to small bowls. I wonder if they have new owners. It has always been more than you can eat they have rally cut down on portions. Wasn't near as many people there. Usually Sunday is the best day to go .Will I go back?...

I wrote a review back in 2023 and here I go again. The "new" South House opened in Lyman earlier so we decided to give it a try. I ordered fried chicken, green beans and potatoes. The chicken was ok but really greasy. The green beans had no taste to them. I looked in the biscuit basket and there was an itty bitty biscuit in it. Who makes a biscuit that small and puts it in the basket? Also, my husband ordered meatloaf and it was cold. How can that be???? I tasted it and it was cold and VERY sweet. Well, we tried again but we will not be back and if anyone asks us how it was we will tell them.

My family as been to the South House many times. I always get the whole catfish plate and I've never been unhappy with it. We'd probably go there more often if we lived closer to it. My wife gets the grilled shrimp and flounder plate. We've tried other dishes but we really enjoy there seafood. Side dishes are very good, sweet potatoes, cabbage, butter beans, blackeyed peas, fantastic salad bar ,plus other sides that rotate around. I'd recommend anyone who enjoys eating seafood plus many other southern dishes to give the South House a try. I'd give them a higher rating if there was one to give.

My daughter and I ate at The South House after church. The food was hot and so delicious. The staff was friendly too. I had country style steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, Mac and cheese, sweet potato soufflé with homemade biscuits and cornbread. My daughter got the fried chicken with the same sides. We enjoyed it.
